MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—Oct. 3, 2019—North Star Resource Group has been announced as a finalist for the 2019 Torch Awards for Ethics of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Minnesota and North Dakota.
BBB's Torch Awards for Ethics celebrates and recognizes local companies that demonstrate integrity and a strong commitment to ethics in all that they do. North Star was selected as one of 10 finalists in out of 600 applicants.
North Star Resource Group is a Minneapolis-based financial services firm that provides both individuals and businesses with the resources to help create, preserve and protect their wealth.
North Star has more than 150 full-time advisors and over 170 employees. In a network of over 40 offices in 23 states, they have contributed to the financial security and well-being of over 130,000 individuals and small businesses.*
“It is an honor to be recognized for this prestigious award,” said Ed Deutschlander, North Star CEO.
When asked how North Star has created a workplace of integrity, Deutschlander answered, “We always start with our purpose: Changing Lives, Forever. We want to change the lives of our team members and advisors so they can change the lives of their clients. Then, together, we can change the lives of the communities we serve.”
Deutschlander added, “Second, we established a set of values. If we have a strong belief in our values and adhere to those values, we will stay the course of ethical decision making. When values are clear, decisions are easy.”
The corporate culture of North Star is based on a series of six core values, which ultimately govern the direction of the firm: responsibility, faith, integrity, growth, gratitude and service. All six values are integral to maintain an ethical culture throughout the firm, guiding senior leaders, financial advisors, team members and ultimately the firm’s clients.
North Star received the Torch Award for Ethics of the BBB of Minnesota and North Dakota in 2011 and in 2015. It is one of only five companies in Minnesota and North Dakota to receive the award more than once since 2000.1
The award recipient for the 2019 Torch Award for Ethics of the BBB of Minnesota and North Dakota will be announced at a reception for finalists on November 20 at the Radisson Blu, Mall of America. This year's keynote speaker is Honorable Alan Page, retired Minnesota Supreme Court justice and pro football hall of famer. The ceremony goes from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
BBB presents the Torch Awards for Ethics annually to several for-profit businesses located within the Minnesota and North Dakota region. Eligible businesses are offered the opportunity to submit an entry to BBB, where a panel of independent volunteer business and community leaders select the winners. Nominees must be in good standing with BBB; however, BBB Accreditation is not a requirement to compete.
