St. Cloud financial advising practice, Jacobs Financial, announced as the 2024 Family-Owned Business of the Year
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – April 3, 2024 – Jacobs Financial, a wealth management firm and affiliate of North Star Resource Group, was today announced as the recipient of the 2024 Family-Owned Business of the Year award by the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce (SCACC).
This award recognizes family-owned businesses in Central Minnesota for their outstanding work in the community and their dedication to serving others.

Jacobs Financial was founded in 1973 by James Jacobs and his father-in-law, David Willmore, as Jacobs, Willmore & Associates. Originally located in Bloomington, Minn., the firm relocated to St. Cloud, Minn., in 1979. In 1992, James took over full ownership of the firm and renamed it Jacobs Financial.
Shortly thereafter, two of James’ sons, David and Andrew Jacobs, joined the firm in 2002 and 2003, respectively. Since then, Jacobs has grown to encompass seven financial advisors and numerous administrative staff, who all help personal and business clients pursue their financial goals. The firm is also planning future expansions to Brainerd, Minn., and Maple Grove, Minn., and they expect to add several new financial advisors to their team throughout the rest of 2024.

Jacobs also holds a steadfast commitment to serving those in their community. For 18 years, they have organized and sponsored the Swing Fore Charity event, which has raised over $470,000 to benefit organizations such as The Greater St. Cloud Public Safety Foundation and Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity. They also have been long-time supporters of community organizations such as Kiwanis, Kids Fighting Hunger, Junior Achievement and St. Cloud Area Family YMCA.
