North Star Resource Group becomes one of the first-ever honorees for the Torch Award for Ethics Hall of Fame

MINNEAPOLIS — June 21, 2023 — The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota recently inducted North Star Resource Group into the new Torch Award for Ethics Hall of Fame.

North Star is one of only two businesses to receive the Torch Award three times.

“We are honored that the Better Business Bureau, a pinnacle in doing business the right way and instilling trust among consumers, chose us to receive such a distinction,” said North Star CEO Ed Deutschlander.

The Torch Awards for Ethics celebrate and recognize local companies that demonstrate integrity and a strong commitment to ethics in all that they do. Each year, over 600 companies apply, and a committee of judges selects one winner for each of their four award categories. To win, companies must be in business for three years or longer, earn an “A” rating from the BBB, meet financial obligations and not have won the award in the past three years.

North Star previously received this award in 2011, 2014 and 2019, and was a finalist for the International Torch Award for Ethics in 2016.

The corporate culture of North Star is based on a series of six core values, which ultimately govern the direction of the firm: responsibility, faith, integrity, growth, gratitude and service. On June 1, 2023, North Star was inducted into the Hall of Fame with another three-time winner Preferred Credit, Inc. at the 2023 BBB Torch Awards for Ethics ceremony. The event also recognized the four business category winners and four BBB scholarship winners, including the winner of the Scott Richards North Star Foundation scholarship. The ceremony took place at the Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis.

“Our goal will be to continue to live our value of responsibility, and one demonstrates gratitude by being responsible for whatever it is they are grateful for,” Deutschlander added. “We have a responsibility to be a role model for not only the businesses in our profession but for businesses everywhere.”
