Chase Brakke named Senior Vice President of North Star Resource Group

MINNEAPOLIS—July 11, 2025—Chase Brakke, DIA, DIF, CEPA®, was today announced as North Star’s Senior Vice President, a role he has assumed effective immediately.

As Senior Vice President, Brakke will continue to oversee the operations of North Star’s Property and Casualty insurance, Disability Insurance and Employee Benefits divisions, which provide protection and benefit solutions to over 150,000 clients nationwide.*

“I’m incredibly honored to be recognized for the amazing work our teams are doing to support our advisors and their clients,” stated Brakke. “I’m lucky to have such great leaders and advisors to work with who are client-centric and mission-driven. I can’t wait to see where things go next!”

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire with a degree in business administration and finance, Brakke joined North Star as a financial advisor in 2008. In 2011, he transitioned to National Disability Insurance Consultant, expanding the division and its services.

Then, in 2019, Brakke began leading the Property and Casualty division, and in 2021, he assumed the role of Vice President of Business Owner Solutions. In this role and now as Senior Vice President, he held responsibility for the employee benefits division while continuing to lead the Property and Casualty insurance, Disability Insurance and Employee Benefits divisions. Under his direction, the three divisions have grown to better address client asset and income protection needs throughout the nation.

With North Star’s transition to Cetera Financial Group in 2023, Brakke provided crucial leadership and support to these divisions and the firm by ensuring a smooth deployment of new procedures, policies and tools. Thanks to this support, North Star successfully retained 98% of its financial advisor base through the transition and has continued to prosper in its deepening relationship with Cetera.

“Chase Brakke is another great example of North Star’s organic growth,” said North Star CEO Ed Deutschlander, CLU®, CLF®. “Chase joined us right off the college campus 17 years ago. North Star has been his only professional home. Chase’s talents have included being an advisor, a recruiter, leading the disability insurance team, creating the Business Owners’ Solutions team and now as a Senior Vice President. Chase is a nationally recognized expert in the disability insurance space, and he has the respect and admiration of all of our advisors and team members. We are honored and excited for his continued impact and contributions. He epitomizes North Star’s values and purpose.”

Beyond his work with North Star, Brakke is heavily involved in his community. He serves as a board member for BestPrep, an organization that provides educational programs to students in grades 4-12 through professional mentorship opportunities. Each year, Brakke volunteers over 100 hours with the organization as an eMentor, classroom speaker and student essay judge.

Thanks to his efforts, Brakke received BestPrep’s Service Award in 2015 and the BestPrep Bunzel Volunteer of the Year award in 2018. In 2021, he was also recognized as a Notable Leader in Finance honoree by Twin Cities Business, reinforcing his mission of increasing financial literacy across Minnesota. Most recently, he was named an honorable mention for the Volunteer of the Year award from Invest In Others in 2024, which recognizes his dedication to giving back to BestPrep and its students.
