Diane Yohn, CLU, RHU, FLMI, CLF got her start in the financial services industry in 1979. Since joining North Star in 1988, Diane has served in multiple leadership positions ranging from Manager of Field Operations to her current role of COO, which she has occupied since 2016. As COO, Diane communicates the values and mission of North Star throughout the company. Additionally, she manages 100+ employees at the firm’s headquarters in Minneapolis and has led one of the top production units within the firm for over ten years.

Diane is a past President of the Minnesota Chapter of GAMA (General Agents’ and Managers’ Association) and a past board member of NAIFA of Minneapolis. She also served on the Executive Board for TeamWomen MN, which works to “serve as role models and leaders, in preparing and aiding women to reach their full potential.” The organization builds and expands upon leadership skills and self-confidence to influence the development of future women leaders and mentors. Diane is also an active member of the Women’s Interactive Sales Exchange (WISE) Group for female financial advisors within the Securian Financial Group, Inc. In 2013, Diane was honored as one of the Twin Cities’ Top Women in Finance of 20133 by Finance & Commerce, an award recognizing the outstanding efforts of women making notable contributions within their companies, communities and the financial services industry. 

At North Star, Diane is the highest ranking woman executive and a past winner of the Scott Richards’ Medal of Honor, an annual award given for showing integrity, service, leadership and selflessness. She is also actively involved in North Star’s holiday Bikes for Kids program, an annual charity that donates bikes to local children in need.

With over thirty five years of industry experience, Diane is able to provide expert guidance and consistent, reliable service to implement and maintain a sound business or individual financial strategy. Her professional specialties include:

Diane graduated from Drake University, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She is also an active member of her community, volunteering at her church, VEAP (Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People), and previously coaching youth basketball and baseball. Diane and her husband, Garry, reside in Bloomington, MN and have two sons and two granddaughters.
