John Tidwell named a ThinkAdvisor Luminaries Next-Gen Rising Stars finalist for innovation and leadership in student loan planning for medical professionals
NEW YORK—September 23, 2025—North Star Resource Group financial advisor John Tidwell, CSLP®, was today announced as a finalist for the ThinkAdvisor Luminaries awards in the Next-Gen Rising Stars category, thanks to his commitment to excellence in serving medical professionals.
This award honors individuals with less than 10 years of industry experience who have demonstrated exceptional innovation and produced outstanding results, positioning them as emerging leaders in the financial services sector.

Since joining North Star in 2020, Tidwell has established himself as a skilled financial practitioner, working with medical professionals at all stages of their careers as they pursue their financial goals. His specialty lies in helping them develop student loan repayment strategies that work in harmony with the rest of their overall financial strategy.
To continuously reinforce his abilities in this specialty, Tidwell is a member of North Star’s Certified Student Loan Professionals (CSLP) network, a group of financial advisors who are all focused on supporting medical professionals and their student loan planning needs. Together, this group has secured $40.5 million in student loan forgiveness for clients, with $2 million being thanks to Tidwell’s efforts.* He is also a member of the North Star Medical Division, a group of financial advisors who specialize in working with medical clients and their families.

These engagements have been crucial to the strong growth of Tidwell’s practice, reflected in his 50 percent increase in Assets Under Administration from 2024 to 2025 and a $10 million increase in life insurance face amount across the same period. He is also among the top North Star financial advisors in terms of life insurance and disability insurance cases sold, further proving his capabilities as a financial practitioner.
Finalists for the ThinkAdvisor Luminaries Awards are selected through a rigorous process emphasizing leadership, innovation and community impact. The selection is carried out by a panel of independent judges made up of distinguished industry professionals, who evaluate both qualitative and quantitative achievements.
