Tax planning

Jayna is a client services administrator at North Star’s headquarters in Minneapolis. In her role, she uses her professional experience to support North Star’s Tax department as they provide tax advice to clients.

Prior to joining North Star in 2023, Jayna spent six and a half years working with libraries across the U.S. and Canada. She also has experience with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, where she serves as a volunteer coordinator. It is through this role that she has helped the organization raise thousands of dollars to aid suicide prevention efforts across the Midwest.

Jayna grew up in West St. Paul, Minn., and has lived in New Richmond, Wisc., since 2021. In her free time, she enjoys overseeing the PTA at the school her son, Jacob, attends. Here, she helps manage three book fairs each school year and once received recognition in the local newspaper for securing adequate funding for each child in the first grade to purchase two books.

Additionally, Jayna was named a West St. Paul Princess in 2008 and Ms. Badger State in 2023. The latter saw her travel to Florida in July of that year for a national pageant event, where she ultimately placed third.

Trevor is a tax specialist at North Star Resource Group’s office in Minneapolis, providing accurate and actionable tax advice to North Star advisors and their clients.

Before joining North Star in 2023, Trevor spent four and a half years at BDO LLP, where he was a tax senior associate. In this role, he helped manage tax associates while preparing and reviewing tax work for clients of BDO. He also serviced high-net-worth individuals and pass-through entities and provided advice to clients on year-end tax planning strategies.

Trevor grew up in Rosemount, MN, and after high school, he attended the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy. In his time away from the office, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his corgi, Karl.

Austin is the Director of Tax Services at North Star Resource Group in Minneapolis, where he provides tax advice to North Star advisors in their mission to attract and retain clients.

Prior to joining North Star in 2023, he was a tax manager for private client services at BDO LLP. He managed between five and 10 tax associates and senior associates while servicing pass-through entities, REITs, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals who had a high degree of tax complexity. He also advised individual and trust clients on year-end tax planning while clearly communicating the results of projections and discussing potential tax strategies.

Before BDO, Austin served as a Senior Tax Associate at Deloitte Tax LLP. In this capacity, he served high-net-worth individuals across athletics, real estate development, retail, and manufacturing industries. He also researched, planned, and performed accounting method changes, entity restructuring, and liquidations as part of his role here.

After growing up in Cook, MN, Austin graduated with a B.A. in Accounting from Saint John’s University in Collegeville, MN. He has also completed the CPA certification exam from the State of Minnesota Board of Accountancy. In his free time, he enjoys muskie fishing, spending time outdoors, and attending Minnesota Twins baseball games. His family also runs Vermillion Dam Lodge, a resort in northeastern Minnesota, which he still visits to this day.
