The inaugural Black & Brown Run Around celebrates diversity and unity in the Milwaukee community
MILWAUKEE — September 6, 2023 — North Star Resource Group and Lead2Change will host the first annual Black & Brown Run Around 5K walk and run on Saturday, September 30 at Veteran’s Park in Milwaukee.
The event will welcome runners, walkers, and families to a vibrant event that supports and uplifts the minority communities of Greater Milwaukee. All food vendors, entertainment and businesses in partnership with the 5K will be local members of Milwaukee community.
“We’re so excited to bring the Black and brown communities of Milwaukee together for this event,” said Carter Amundson, one of the event’s organizers and a financial advisor with North Star. “We’re proud to partner with Lead2Change, which is an organization that aligns with our goals as financial professionals: financial security for everyone and a chance to make a difference.”
This event was created by members of North Star’s Milwaukee office, who pride themselves on being a diverse group of financial advisors making a difference in their communities. They were inspired to host this event to promote the flourishing diverse communities in the Milwaukee area. Their mission is to improve health and wealth outcomes in the Black and brown communities, who have traditionally been overlooked and under served.
“Educating, empowering, and leading others to take action. That is the essence of everything we do,” added Eleazar Lopez, a fellow advisor of Amundson’s and another organizer behind the event.
Those who are interested in participating can sign up to either walk or run during the 5K race. Those interested can also register to be a sponsor or volunteer for the event. Additionally, the post-race festivities are open to all members of the public who wish to attend.
