North Star recognized on the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal Corporate Giving and Corporate Philanthropists lists

MINNEAPOLIS—November 23, 2024—North Star Resource Group was today announced on the Corporate Giving in Minnesota and Minnesota-Based Corporate Philanthropists lists from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal (MSPBJ).

These lists recognize the collective effort of North Star’s charitable giving every year, spearheaded by the Scott Richards North Star Foundation.

“Receiving this recognition from a prestigious publication like the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal is wonderful,” stated North Star CEO Ed Deutschlander, CLU®, CLF®. “It reaffirms our commitment to giving back to our communities, and I am truly thankful for our advisors and team members who help us realize that mission.”

Both lists highlight each organization’s charitable donations to eligible organizations. North Star placed #18 on the Corporate Giving in Minnesota list, which recognizes companies that made donations to Minnesota-based beneficiaries. Additionally, the firm secured the #14 ranking on the Minnesota-Based Corporate Philanthropists list, which recognizes Minnesota-based organizations that contribute to global causes.

Each year, North Star donates 10 percent of its annual profits to charity through the Scott Richards North Star Foundation. Since its founding in 2004, the foundation has donated over $7.4 million to worthy charities and focuses on six core causes: ataxia, Bikes for Kids, Alzheimer’s disease, breast cancer, cystic fibrosis and myelofibrosis.

“Being in the North Star family includes giving back to the community,” Deutschlander continued. “We stress this in multiple ways, from providing employees with paid time off to volunteer for causes important to them to events that show a deliberate effort to honor our purpose of Changing Lives, Forever®.”

Corporate Giving in MN List (2025) #18 issued by Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal. List ranks organizations by Cash contributions to MN charities. Beginning in June, Business Journal sent surveys to hundreds of organizations from their Public 75, Private 100, 50 Largest Employers and other list databases to compile this list. To be eligible for The List, organizations may be based anywhere. We asked these organizations for their cash contributions —excluding in-kind donations, volunteer hours, employee contributions, scholarships — to Minnesota-based charitable beneficiaries, excluding those like health care organizations and schools. Information on The List was supplied by company representatives through questionnaires and could not be independently verified by the Business Journal.. Listing in this publication and/or award is not a guarantee of future investment success. This recognition should not be construed as an endorsement of any financial professional by any client. No compensation was provided directly or indirectly by the recipient for participation or in connection with obtaining or using the third-party rating or award.
