Mary Claire Wente named a TeamWomen WaveMaker Community Impact award honoree for dedication to serving others
MINNEAPOLIS — July 21, 2024 — Mary Claire Wente, supervisor of client and customer services at North Star Resource Group, was today announced as a 2024 WaveMaker Community Impact award honoree by TeamWomen, a nonprofit that supports and helps develop women and girls into future career professionals and leaders.
The Community Impact Award recognizes individuals who actively prioritize giving back to members of the community in ways that promote the development of others.
“I am deeply honored to be recognized by Team Women for the WaveMaker Community Impact award alongside other impressive women who are making large impacts on their communities,” stated Wente. “It highlights the importance of giving back but also continues to inspire me to make a positive difference in the lives of others.”
Wente was nominated for this award based on her long history of working with a variety of community-focused organizations. One such example is BestPrep, a Minnesota-based nonprofit providing educational programs to students in grades 4-12 through professional mentorship opportunities. Wente has been a BestPrep mentor and volunteer classroom speaker for the last five years, and she also coordinates North Star’s volunteering efforts with the organization while serving on the BestPrep Emerging Leaders Alliance (BELA).
Wente has also forged a strong relationship between North Star and the Jeremiah Program, a national organization with a mission to disrupt the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children. Through this relationship, North Star has begun hosting recurring financial wellness seminars with the mothers of the Jeremiah Program, providing them with the financial skills they need to be successful.
In addition to BestPrep and the Jeremiah Program, Wente also works with No Kid Hungry, a national nonprofit dedicated to addressing hunger issues for children across the nation. She also is a founding committee member of the Black & Brown Run Around, which is a Milwaukee-based event centered on engaging members of Milwaukee’s black and brown communities while uplifting minority-owned businesses in the area.
“Giving back to our community and seeing the direct impact it makes on people is an endless source of encouragement,” Wente added. “Each act of kindness sparks hope, fuels change and reminds us of the incredible impact we can have when we come together to uplift one another.”
Wente will be honored alongside the other award honorees at the TeamWomen WaveMaker Awards ceremony on October 3, 2024, in Minneapolis.
