Michelle Muthiani named a Notable Women in Banking and Finance by Twin Cities Business for client dedication and DEI advocacy
MINNEAPOLIS—April 6, 2026—Michelle Muthiani, CSLP®, financial advisor at North Star Resource Group, was today announced as a recipient of the Notable Women in Banking and Finance award from Twin Cities Business magazine.
This award recognizes women financial services professionals with at least five years of experience who have demonstrated the ability to create lasting change in their roles or areas of practice. Muthiani is one of 17 individuals who received this recognition for 2026.
“Receiving this honor from Twin Cities Business is truly wonderful,” stated Muthiani. “I sincerely appreciate the lasting relationships I’ve built with my clients and my community members, and I intend to use this momentum to continue meeting the financial needs of others while advocating for a more equal and just world.”
Muthiani has been working with North Star since 2008, first serving in a support role in an advisor’s practice before transitioning to the role of financial advisor on that same team in 2019. She successfully launched her own solo financial practice in 2024, and she is a member of North Star’s Medical Division, a group of North Star advisors providing expertise for dentists and physicians.
Her advisory work has been recognized through several honors, including North Star’s New Advisor of the Year (2021). Muthiani is also a two-time recipient of North Star’s Under Four Years Leader of the Year award (2022 and 2023), in response to her business development innovation and commitment to meeting the needs of medical professionals and business owners.
In 2021, Muthiani co-founded the North Star DEI Committee, which serves to increase awareness and acceptance of diverse cultures within the firm. Thanks to her leadership, this group has launched firm book clubs, lunch‑and‑learns, culture potlucks and food drives, which strengthen the core pillars of the DEI Committee: internal education, culture-building, community engagement and recruiting.
“Michelle’s commitment to serving others and advocating for a more equitable workplace is truly honorable,” added North Star CEO Ed Deutschlander, CLU®, CLF®. “We are extremely proud of her for receiving this honor from Twin Cities Business, and her trajectory in this profession will only continue to trend upward.”
Muthiani’s commitment to equity is rooted in lived experience and long-standing service. From 2003-2015, she served as a Guardian Ad Litem court advocate for abused youth, gaining insight into supporting a diverse group. She is also dedicated to supporting the community, serving in roles such as co‑president of the Pratt Community School Site Council (2018-2020).
Muthiani also works with Sanctuary Covenant Church, where she is a member of the finance team and operations committee, and BestPrep, where she has volunteered in their eMentors career and financial literacy program since 2008. She volunteers with The Haven Pantry and Love MPLS, two organizations dedicated to expanding community resources and engaging residents of the Minneapolis area.
