Jon C. Ylinen is a senior partner at North Star Resource Group who has been highlighted by FORBES’ independent and unpaid research as #13 on the Top Best-in-State Financial Security Professionals in Wisconsin (2023).

He is an independent comprehensive financial consultant and wealth manager who has a national-reaching practice. He currently works with several hundred physicians starting as early as their final year of medical school, through residency, fellowship, in practice, and continuing through retirement.

His practice offers customized financial planning**. His passion for this goal-driven planning is rooted in the belief that financial services and asset management should revolve around a plan that targets the client’s goals, be independent in nature and be very well-rounded in its approach. This approach focuses on establishing emergency reserves, thoughtful debt management, strategic asset protection* and risk management, along with tactical wealth accumulation geared towards what matters most to the client.

In addition to his private client work, Jon’s academic work started with co-authoring the book ‘Real Life Financial Planning for Physicians’ and moved on to pioneering financial columns such as the ‘Financial Focus’ column for Review of Ophthalmology and ‘EM$ and Sense’ for Emergency Medicine Magazine in addition to his contributions to numerous articles with Medical Economics. He currently concentrates this side of his work to his ongoing column at Physician’s Money Digest.

Outside of his financial planning practice, Jon and his wife Alyssa enjoy spending time with their children, traveling, and training for triathlons.
