Working to align your financial habits with your stated goals.
You don’t need another financial professional spewing financial jargon, bossing you around with your money.
You just want to know the truth about your financial picture and get the tools you need to realize your goals.
When you work with Cal, you receive a lifelong ally who is committed to listening to you, researching your options, weighing tried and true methods with the latest strategies, and finally, empowering you to make a decision that supports your overall wellbeing.
Cal runs his practice out of three core values:
Inclusion: If you are someone who has been historically neglected or talked down to by those in the financial world, it’s time to take control of your earnings and start building wealth in a way that’s unique to you and aligned with your values.
Communication: Communication is at the center of the client-financial professional relationship. When you work with Cal, he seeks to get a full picture of who you are as a person, how you view your money, and how you view the world so he can address your financial situation on a deeply personal level.
“I get to know clients’ lives—their partners, their kids, what trip they just went on—becoming real lifelong friends with them. The one way to make sure that lifelong relationship happens? Simply do good work for the client.”
Research and education: If only there were ways to approach investing that had been researched scientifically and tested in the real world. Ways that allowed people to mitigate mistakes, take opportunities, and helped them live a content life. Turns out there are! Cal started his career with a desire to learn all he could about money, and he is motivated by the ability to share these insights with others.

More about Cal
The Twin Cities are a large part of who Cal is. He grew up in Maple Grove, graduated from the University of Minnesota, and currently lives in Uptown Minneapolis. Outside of work, he is involved in the Mill City Running Team, UMN Alumni, Pike Alumni, and Our Streets MPLS, a local nonprofit working for a city where biking, walking, and rolling are easy and comfortable for everyone.
Cal loves running to a new part of the city, finding a new bike route along the river in Stillwater, or training for his next race. Those activities are usually followed by a beer with friends, most likely at a new brewery, distillery, or restaurant.
As much as he enjoys his home in Minneapolis, before 2020, Cal’s love for trying new things also took him to cities across the nation to experience new places, new people, new music, and new art.
He’s a life-long learner, and he loves to chat books and podcasts with his clients. Some of his favorites right now? Freakonomics, Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History, Joe Rogan, Making Sense with Sam Harris, and The Prof G Show with Scott Galloway.
Cal is part of Fortune Financial, where he works closely with managing partner Jim Quandt.
Jim has 31 years of experience specializing in work with business owners, qualified retirement plans, and employee benefits. Together, Cal and Jim work to provide unmatched service to their clients, attending client meetings and discussing every option as a team.
ESG and sustainable investing
Learn how your investments can support your personal values. If you have an issue or cause you care deeply about, you can incorporate those values into your investing strategy to feel good about the companies you’re invested in.
Firms with high or favorable ISS ESG corporate ratings tend to be more profitable through an economic value-added lens.1
Business owner financial solutions
Chose a retirement plan for your business that will allow you exceptional investment as an owner and choices and tax-efficiency for the business, while also remaining affordable for your employees.
Cal can also help you build out a total compensation package for your employees with the goal of increasing retention and hiring in a way that’s more cost-effective than simply raising salaries. This package may include benefits such as health insurance, dental, life insurance, or disability insurance.
Both the retirement plan and total compensation package come with education for your employees in the form of informational meetings.
The hope is to finish with a happier, healthier, and more satisfied workforce who are more likely to stick around.
Comprehensive financial strategies
Take control of their financial life—one step at a time. Often, even when young people start earning a high income, they realize making more money hasn’t solved their financial anxiety.
Here Cal works from the ground up, ensuring your budget is cleaned up, you have a plan to tackle debt, and you are protected in case of a financial emergency. Once the foundation is set, he helps you cover the more fun topics of saving for large purchases and investing for the future or retirement you desire.
All of this is done while addressing deep-rooted mental hurdles, building lifelong habits, and becoming a happier and healthier financial adult.
Cal hosts regular webinars focused on topics such as wealth building for Millennials, ESG investing, and business owner solutions.
