Neil provides customized and comprehensive financial plans for couples and individuals of all ages. A self-proclaimed soft-spoken introvert, he makes it a priority to actively listen to his clients before attempting any sort of discussion with them. This allows Neil to truly develop an interpersonal relationship with his clients, which in turn allows him to further tailor his financial plans and recommendations to them. He also believes in the importance of a trust-based relationship—one where his clients trust him to deliver financial advice that accurately reflects their wishes and concerns.
After growing up in a home in River Falls, WI where his family utilized the services of a financial advisor—and saw the great potential and value that such a relationship can bring—Neil attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. He graduated from there with a Finance degree paired with a Coaching minor and was a member of Gustavus’ golf team when they won the 2004 Division 3 National Championship. Once he completed his education, he relocated to Phoenix, AZ to pursue a career in professional golf, where he successfully played for many years in major tournaments around the world.
However, Neil’s true calling was that of making a difference in the lives of many, particularly wanting to pass on the financial freedom and success that his parents enjoyed from their financial advisor. As such, he transitioned to a financial advising career with North Star in 2022, where he began working alongside the very same financial advisor that his parents have relied on for over two decades. Despite this change, Neil continued to use lessons learned from his time in golf when establishing his practice as an advisor, especially when it came to dealing with high-stress scenarios. These lessons connect with his natural ability to listen and empathize with whatever his clients are going through.
Neil remains a resident in Phoenix to this day, alongside his wife and children. In his free time, he continues to play golf while also enjoying hiking and playing with his children.

If you plan, you get to act. If you don’t plan, you have to react. Putting together a comprehensive financial plan that is based upon a client’s individual goals is the most important thing that I do.
I like to use cash flow analysis in tandem with a client’s goals to model their retirement.
Inadequate risk protection can make the targeted financial plan virtually impossible to successfully execute. Protecting a client and his/her family from a disability or premature death helps keep their goals and financial plan attainable.
