Marcus attended Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas and completed his undergraduate degree in Business Administration. Apart from work, Marcus is actively involved in the community helping others and is a board member of the Stop Alzheimer’s Now Foundation as well as various faith related organizations. He loves being outdoors, mountain biking, canoeing, playing soccer, drumming and spending time with his growing family, now with 2 lovely children to keep him busy.
He believes that clients are best served with a holistic, comprehensive approach to financial services. Meeting people where they are at based on their unique backgrounds, upbringings and current situation is the foundation of the relationship. From there, it is his aim to help clients see and realize their short and long term goals with helpful coaching, clear communication and updates on pertinent information relating to his client base and the ever increasingly specialized world of finance.
He prides himself on helping give clients confidence when it comes to their finances and being a competent friend on their side to navigate the world of finance so that they are free to do what their hearts desire. During his time at Texas Lutheran University, he was fortunate to be mentored by a highly regarded CFP® professional who opened his eyes to the career of a financial advisor and the impact that he is able to make in the lives of his clients. It is this impact in the lives of his clients that is his “why” when he comes to work.
No different than physicians or dentists who subspecialize in a particular area of study, Marcus has quickly become an expert in the needs of physicians and dentists and keeps abreast of the topics facing them on a daily basis. When helping his clients develop a comprehensive strategy, he can employ the following areas of expertise:
- Tax Minimization Strategies and Tax Efficient Investing*
- Retirement Strategies (IRAs, employer-sponsored plans, plans for self-employed individuals or business owners, non-qualified retirement plans)
- Asset Protection Strategies*
- Investment Strategies
- Debt Management
- Risk Management (Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, Business Overhead Insurance)
- Education Funding
Key questions he seeks to address include:
- Tax Minimization* – How can we help lower taxes both today and in the future?
- Asset Protection* – How to properly safeguard your assets from creditors.
- Risk Management – How can we help properly protect the family without paying too much or being over-insured?
- What do you want for your future and your retirement?
Marcus is based out of his home city of Austin, Texas and travels throughout central Texas and the Midwest, basing a portion of his practice out of St. Louis, Missouri serving physician and dentist families. He has had the opportunity to speak at numerous teaching institutions to keep up to date on the issues facing physicians in their particular geographic area. In addition to this, he is a co-author of The Physician’s Guide to Financial Independence which is geared towards young professionals making the transition into practice and how to avoid common issues he has seen them make over the years. He believes his focus on building long-term, family-focused relationships, integrity and construction of a unique financial roadmap to help clients meet their unique needs sets him apart from the competition who oftentimes have cookie-cutter approaches to address a client’s needs. He is a member of NAIFA and is a founding member of the Lone Star Division within North Star Resource Group.
Marcus is a registered representative and investment advisor representative of CRI Securities, LLC and Securian Financial Services, Inc.
Aside from the knowledge and experience you will receive from your advisor, North Star provides a team of experts within their specialties dedicated to helping your advisor choose well-suited products or services for you.
