Brendan Pheasant is a financial consultant with North Star Consultants of Texas.  He believes in financial planning because it helps make sure the important things get done in our lifetime.

“We have important goals and in order to reach them we need to know what to do, how to do it, and then we actually have to do it.  I am always reminded of a Dilbert cartoon from years ago where Catbert wants to move into the long-term planning department from the short-term planning department because it will take the company much longer to figure out he is not doing anything.  This cartoon while funny, strikes at the core of one of the unique challenges of financial planning.  Because our goals are often realized over a life time it is hard to know if we are doing it right.  The difference between good planning and excellent planning may not be realized until we are in our 80’s.  The awareness that I have such a profound impact on my client’s lives is the inspiration I draw from as a financial advisor.” – Brendan Pheasant

Brendan works with small to midsize business/practice owners in Austin, Texas.  His practice is both personal and business plan-driven.  Brendan works with his clients on the personal side on goal setting, debt management, saving, investing, tax strategies, college funding and insurance and asset protection strategies as well as understanding the impact of shareholder or partnership agreements, or their entity selection on their financial plan.  Brendan also works with businesses to attract and retain team members, plan out employee benefits, design and implement their retirement plans, and plan for a tax-efficient exit and transition. He has an expansive internal team and external network to make sure his clients have access to the expertise and services they need to succeed.

Brendan is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER practitioner, from the CFP® Board of Standards – Washington, D.C., an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) from the Foundation for Fiduciary Studies – Sewickley, Pa., and a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) from the American College – Bryn Mawr, Pa.  He holds a bachelor’s degree from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, and is Life/Health, Series 6, 7 and 63 licensed. He is a member of the Austin Chapter of the Financial Planner’s Association. He has 11 years of experience as a financial advisor.

Outside of work Brendan can be found spending time with his wife Valerie, a Montessori guide, and his two children Arthur (3) and Beatrice (1).  He enjoys board games, making music, running (but not too much) and reading.  Three of his latest reads:

  • Start with Why - Simon Sinek
  • Eat, Stop, Eat – Brad Pilon
  • Mr. Putter and Tabby Drop the Ball – Cynthia Rylant & Arthur Howard

In the future, Brendan plans to continue his formal education in financial planning to better incorporate and access the exploding body of research into his practice.
