MINNEAPOLIS — Gary Schwartz, CLU®, ChFC®, CRPC has been announced as Executive Vice President of North Star Resource Group. Schwartz was most recently Senior Vice President of Advisor Growth & Development at North Star, a role he held since 2013.
In his new role, Schwartz will continue to provide professional consulting services to associates on developing teams and composite practices, succession planning and overall executive leadership. He specializes in providing experienced advisor coaching services and developing practice management analytics designed to improve practice productivity and effectiveness.
As a result of Schwartz’s leadership and advisor coaching expertise, he co-authored Practice on Purpose in 2014 with North Star CEO Ed Deutschlander and Executive Chairman and Founder Phil Richards. The book serves to raise the sense of purpose and value a financial advisor can achieve within their practice. In 2016, Schwartz added a workbook to accompany the book. He has presented on the premise of the book at multiple conferences in the United States, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.
With 42 years of experience in the financial industry, Schwartz started his career with Minnesota Mutual in St. Paul, MN and eventually rose to Vice President of Field Management and Development for the Securian Financial Network. In this role, Schwartz directed the field management and sales promotion functions for 60 regional firms and 1,200 financial advisors. In 2002, Schwartz joined what became Ameriprise Financial as the Franchise Field Vice President for the Twin Cities area. Overseeing the Independent Advisor platform in its flagship territory, Schwartz built the platform to 250 franchise advisors and 100 associates. He was honored with the 2005 Outstanding Leader Award and his territory was continually in the top 5 of 21 territories.
He is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) from The American College and a Certified Retirement Planning Consultant (CRPC) from the College for Financial Planning. Schwartz is past Chair of LIMRA’s Career Agency Building Committee, a Securian Ambassador, a Diplomat to GAMA International and speaker at multiple GAMA International LAMP Conferences.
