Laura Vaughn became a Financial Advisor to be a problem solver in the lives of her clients. Working with mostly physicians and entrepreneurs, she enjoys guiding them to pursue their next financial objective—whether that is purchasing their dream home, retiring early, or saving for education costs. Laura runs her practice with an open door policy, encouraging her clients to think of her as their family’s CFO. She recognizes the importance of having a substantial presence in the lives of her clients, especially during life’s big milestones. Two of the biggest focuses in Laura’s practice are accumulation and goal-based strategies, while a mutual sense of trust always plays an integral role in her client relationships.
Laura’s greatest professional accomplishment was becoming the first female New Advisor of the Year4, awarded by Securian Financial Services in 2011. The following year, she was interviewed by Life and Health Pro magazine on succeeding as a young female advisor in a field often classified as male-dominated. She has recently been able to use her success as an advisor to mentor others in North Star’s Houston office. She has also been distinguished as a Court of the Table member of the Million Dollar Round Table, the Premier Association of Financial Professionals. Laura is a member of Securian Financial Services’ Women’s Interactive Sales Exchange (WISE) and a recipient of Securian’s 2014 Protecting Hopes and Dreams Award4, which celebrates the efforts of advisors living out a significant role in the lives of their clients. In 2017, Laura was selected as one of the recipients of The American College's Millennial Advisor Award, recognizing advisors under the age of 35 who have made a significant impact within their profession. She is also FINRA Series 7 and 66 registered. Laura and her team hold frequent dinner seminars in Texas, including at the University of Texas, MD Anderson, and Baylor College of Medicine.
Originally from Galveston, TX, Laura graduated from the University of Texas in Austin (hook ‘em horns!), with a degree in Finance and minor in Spanish. Laura now resides in Houston with her husband Chris and her yellow lab Blue. She is an active member of the Alpha Phi Alumni and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Committee, where $375 million+ has been given in scholarships to greater Houston’s youth since its inception in the 1930’s. In her time off, she enjoys playing tennis, attempting Barre, and travelling, with a goal of visiting all 50 states before her 50th birthday.
